Beastie Boys Memoir "Time To Get Ill" Gets Release Date
Before Post Malone or Eminem were around, the coolest white boys in the rap game were three Jewish boys from New York who rapped over guitar riffs and had Rick Rubin as their DJ. After decades success, and the unfortunate passing member Adam "MCA" Yauch in 2012, it was announced that the group would be writing a memoir.
Now, we finally have a hard release date for when we'll be able to get our hands on the book. According to Hip-Hop DX, the Amazon pre-order link puts the release date as October 30th, 2018.
Mike D promoted the book on his Instagram today, saying, "I’m not sure if you remember or not, but a while ago we said that we were gonna write a book about our band. Well, it’s almost done and it’s coming out soon, and this is what it’s gonna look like. Kinda nice, right? It’s got a little something for everyone." The cover shows the three them back in their heyday, standing in front "Stromboli Pizza", which the most New York name for a pizza place ever.
According to the Amazon description the book, readers should expect, "revealing and very funny accounts their transition from teenage punks to budding rappers; their early collaboration with Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin; the almost impossible-to-fathom overnight success their debut studio album Licensed to Ill; that album’s messy fallout; their break with Def Jam, move to Los Angeles, and rebirth as musicians and social activists, with the genre-defying masterpiece Paul’s Boutique."
