Insomniac Officially Reveals Dates of EDC China
Long before the fireworks, ferris wheels, colossal celebrations, Electric Daisy Carnival was nothing more than a warehouse party.
DJ Steve ‘Kool-Aid’ ran an underground promotion company that specialized in putting together these legendary parties, one which became EDC. However, in 1997, Insomniac co-founder, Pasquale Rotella, picked up where DJ Steve left f by restructuring the electronic dance music scene to reach a broader audience.
Under Rotella, EDC went from an ill-equipped underground rave to a multi-million dollar experience that transcends the music.
EDC first took place at the Shrine Hall Expo in Los Angeles, where over 5,000 ravers danced the night away. The festival made Texas and San Bernardino its home before returning to LA in 2007 to 2010.
Since then, EDC has grown from a single Saturday, to three full days. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway continuously tests the limits on its capacity, breaking attendance records year after year, including a record 700,000 in 2014. The , despite not knowing who would perform.
Now, the successful festival is making moves overseas.
EDC China, the third EDC to take place in Asia, has been ficially announced. The groundbreaking event will take place on April 28th and 29th at the Shanghai International Music Park in Shanghai.
The festival will host fan favourite stages such as kineticTEMPLE, circuitGROUNDS,
bassPOD, and the Boombox Art Car. Co-organized with Zebra Entertainment Enterprise, along with EDC’s parent company, Insomniac, EDC China will come before the second edition EDC Japan, which takes place a few weeks later on May 12th-13th.
