Detroit Techno documentary 'God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines' launches Kickstarter
Filmmakers Jennifer Washington and Kristian Hill are at the moment elevating funds Kickstarter for his or her new documentary God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines: The Story of Detroit Techno.
For the previous seven years, Washington and Hill have been researching and documenting the lives of seminal Detroit techno pioneers resembling Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Eddie Fowlkes, Blake Baxter and Santonio Echols. Through their analysis and interviews, the filmmakers intention to inform the story of how The Motor City birthed the worldwide phenomenon and depict how the enterprise of music betrayed a lot of Detroit's African American techno originators.
"The founders finally uncover brotherhood and betrayal don’t all the time combine on the dance flooring," the movie's Kickstarter web page reads. "Now, over 30 years later, they struggle to maintain their legacy and music alive in a metropolis that's solely now giving them their due recognition."
