"Avengers: Infinity War" Becomes World's Fifth Top-Grossing Movie
In just two weeks and some change Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has joined the ranks the top five highest-grossing films in the history the world.
According to Variety, the film closed out the week with $61.8 million at the domestic box fice while adding on $281.3 million from a strong showing overseas in a total 55 international markets. That brings the Infinity War tally to $1.606 billion to make it the fifth highest grossing movie all time. It now joins the ranks Avatar, which claims $2.788 billion, Titanic at $2.187 billion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which clocks out with $2.068 billion and Jurassic World which finishes with $1.671 billion.
Previously, the film already went on to top Marvel’s original Avengers to be the highest-grossing superhero film while its predecessor Black Panther still holds the crown for being the highest-grossing superhero film in North America with $696 million.
Currently, Infinity War has racked up a total $547 million at the domestic box fice, doing so in just a matter three weeks. After its debut in China this weekend, the film is ficially boding well in all markets. You’ll recall that bowed in the Chinese market with an impressive $200 million to cross over into billion-dollar territory on the global scale.
