DRINKURWATER Dives Into Wakaan With Wonky EP, “Movement”

A tidal wave of an EP, the project sees the release of DRINKURWATER's long-awaited single, "Bendy Riddim Straw."

This EP is really making a splash.

Diving into Wakaan is DRINKURWATER, who has landed on Liquid Stranger's flagship imprint with a new three-track EP, Movement. Over the past few years, the Germany-born artist has sprinkled fan-favorite releases on Subsidia while earning a slot on last year's Lost Lands as he continues to make serious waves.

Wading into the weird side of the bass music spectrum, DRINKURWATER says he saw Movement as a chance to blend the wonky with the heavy.

"I wanted to showcase my weird and heavy sides with this project," he said in a statement. "I'm so stoked to bring my sounds to the beautiful Wakaan platform and be able to showcase the variety of different angles I can take with my music."

Opening the floodgates is "Bendy Riddim Straw," one of the most sought-after IDs in DRINKURWATER's library. Spurred by its inclusion in his electrifying sets and prominent spotlights like Excision and Liquid Stranger's recent B2B, the single bends huge drum hits into a steady flow that crashes like a tidal wave.

Slowing things down to a trickle, "Closer" features haunting keys that drip into a thunderous bass growl for a languid track perfectly tuned for the experimental Wakaan sound. The last of the trio, the titular "Movement," once again dials down the tempo and washes us away in a stream of twinkly, droplet-like synths while a resonant low-end adds an extraterrestrial twist to close out the EP.
