Explore Miami’s Striking Uma House, an Escapist Utopia for the Modern Nightlife Enthusiast

Decompressing after a turbocharged 2023 Miami Music Week, we can't imagine having stayed anywhere else.

For those who have not yet experienced Miami Music Week—it's bedlam. Just ask any one of the bedraggled rave zombies stumbling through the Miami International Airport on Sunday: MMW is survival of the fittest.

Miami has always been beloved for its rich nightlife but the hedonism reaches a new level the week leading up to Ultra Music Festival, when the city erupts into a down-and-dirty electronic music dreamworld. Miami's hotels, bars and restaurants transform into clubs and seemingly every DJ in the nation circles the metropolis like a hawk to a lizard.

But Uma House by Yurbban South Beach is a respite from it all. The hotel is perfect for visitors who want to experience the indulgence and sumptuous nature of Miami without breaking the bank. It's an escapist utopia.

It all hit us within a millisecond of pulling up to the building, thanks to the lush courtyard facing James Avenue. It's one of a number of newly renovated outdoor spaces, which are lovely spots for meetings or work sessions.

Then you walk into Uma House's stunning lobby. Giant vintage photos of Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Amy Winehouse and other music legends adorn the walls above the monochrome marble floors.

With its many gilded accents, the room is striking.

Oh, and you can sip free, freshly roasted coffee in the lobby from 8 to 10am. It's one of the many perks Uma House offers its guests, as is their "Wine O'Clock" happy hour on the Sunrise Rooftop.

That's also where we found Uma House's stunning pool, which overlooks the sapphire blue Atlantic Ocean. Sometimes it's difficult to find beauty in the little things in life, but getting our days started with that view? Priceless.

When it comes to Uma House's rooms, it's tough not to feel at home. Cozy premium mattresses, 300 thread-count Italian cotton sheets, pristine eggshell curtains, marble shower walls—the list goes on.

Some rooms even come with sleek vintage record players and curated vinyl collections, a subtle nod to Uma House's infatuation with breathing new life into lost arts.

Uma House is also in the perfect location. It's just a block away from the bustling Collins Avenue, where you can grab a taco and a cocktail on any number of patios under the sun or stars. The historic Art Deco District is also close by for the aesthetes who want to explore the area's color-splashed architecture and quirky décor.

For parents traveling with kids, the hotel offers easy accessibility to spend a day seaside since it's just a two-minute walk from the famed sands of South Beach. And when you get there, you can post up on a free deckchair under a chic blue-and-white umbrella by virtue of Uma House's partnership with Boucher Brothers, a local hospitality management company.
