Harvey Weinstein Turns Himself In & Is Charged With Rape, Bail Set At $10 Million
Harvey Weinstein has turned himself - finally.
Over the past seven months, women came forth with allegations against the 66-year-old ex-film producer, which include accusations rape and sexual assault.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that a statement from the New York Police Department said Weinstein "was arrested, processed and charged with rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct for incidents involving two separate women." Weinstein was arrested by the New York City police department shortly thereafter and taken to court. He denied committing any non-consensual sex acts.
Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance filed felony sex crimes charges against the fallen producer after he turned himself into authorities at the first precinct police station in Tribeca.
“Today’s charges reflect significant progress in this active, ongoing investigation,” Vance said in a statement. “I thank the brave survivors who have come forward and my fice’s prosecutors who have worked tirelessly on this investigation. I would also like to thank Commissioner James O’Neill and our dedicated partners at the NYPD. We urge additional survivors and others with relevant information to call our sex crimes hotline at 212-335-9373.”
Weinstein’s Bond has been set at $10 million or $1 million cash. Weinstein was asked to relinquish his passport and has to wear a GPS monitoring system and can only travel between New York and Connecticut.
The fallen Hollywood exec arrived at the police station in lower Manhattan carrying three books and was seen smiling for the cameras as he was escorted out the station with handcuffs.
