Listen: Above & Beyond’s New EP Blows the Doors Off After “Six Months of Studio Hibernation”

Beloved for their uplifting and euphoric sound, Above & Beyond have returned to the dancefloor with their new EP, Tranquility Base Vol. 1.

"In the same way the quieter moments on our albums have always been a major part of Above & Beyond, the bigger dancefloor moments have also been a hallmark of our sound," the iconic trance music group said in a joint statement.

Out now on Anjunabeats, Tranquility Base Vol. 1 is the byproduct of "six months of studio hibernation," according to the label. But Above & Beyond open the EP with their fangs out, blowing the doors off with the snarling, breakbeat-inspired "Angry JP8."

They follow with two dramatic progressive cuts, "Wasp" and "500," before the menacing "VLENKO," which takes a turn into techno territory with its pulverizing kicks and dark, mystical sound design.

Fans of Above & Beyond will find themselves at home with the EP's final track, "Spin Off." Here, the trio tie a bow on the project with a peak-time trance anthem replete with the rumbling bass and soaring leads of a signature A&B record.
