Miami’s We Belong Here Festival Brings Sunshine and Breezy House Music

That three-hour Lane 8 sunset performance was one for the books.

We Belong Here, a two-day event on Miami’s Virginia Key, combined beautiful weather with beachside views, high energy, great food and thumping house music.

We attended both days of the festival, catching plenty of sun rays and shuffling our feet by the ocean to the sounds of Chapter & Verse, Yotto and many more.

The mainstage area at We Belong Here was designed by placing colorful, pastel-painted shipping containers in a big circle to create a sense of space. Two different beachside stages brought the party to the shoreline, where you could see boats docked nearby in the ocean.

Funktion One speakers thumped to the beat on the beach. Disco balls and paper lanterns danced in the wind. The salty breeze and lapping waves against the sand provided a dreamlike background.

The first day of We Belong Here Miami 2023 featured Kaskade, who performed a stunning three-hour "Redux" performance, as well as a sun-kissed DJ set from house music star James Hype.

One of the weekend's surefire highlights was the performance by Giolì & Assia, the EDM.com Class of 2021 duo, who stunned with their signature blend of organic live instruments and entrancing vocals.

Their performance was followed by Lane 8's three-hour sunset DJ set, a euphoric experience and melodic voyage through progressive house. You could feel the palpable joy in the crowd as dusk set in.

We Belong Here collaborated with Smorgasboard Miami, an open-air food market in Wynwood, to offer a variety of culinary options at the festival. We'd be remiss not to shout out one of our favorites, a spicy Korean-style chicken sandwich maker called Gangnam Chicken.

Looking for your fill of breezy house music in sunny Miami? Luckily Miami Music Weekend is right around the corner, and we sourced a huge guide of over 100 events to soak it all in.

In the meantime, you can keep a pulse on We Belong Here via the festival's website.
