New cast member joins Keanu Reeves in the Matrix 4
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been confirmed for a lead role in the next iteration of the Matrix, joining Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Warner Bros. announced the making of the next Matrix back in August after dealing with issues surrounding production rights the last few years. With production expected to begin at the start of 2020, the film will be directed by Lana Wachowski. Aleksander Hernon and David Mitchell joined Wachowski in the writing of the new script. Production and distribution for the film will be done Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.

Abdul-Mateen has achieved important roles in recent years, including Lupita Nyong’o’s character’s father in Jordan Peele’s 'Us' and a starring role in an episode of 'Black Mirror.' Along with his 'Matrix' role, he will be acting in Aaron Sorkin’s 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' as Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale and in 'Candyman' produced by Peele. Abdul-Mateen's specific role in the 'Matrix 4' is unconfirmed at this time.
