Sonos reveals restricted version Beastie Boys Play:5 speaker
Hip hop royality, Beastie Boys have collaborated with Sonos on a brand new limited-edition model of the corporate’s flagship speaker.
Sonos paired Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike-D” Diamond with San Francisco-based artist Barry McGee to design the Sonos Play:5 Beastie Boys version.
The all-white speaker options the band’s title printed on the entrance grille in a hanging purple typeface. It will go on sale in December, priced at £499.
Proceeds from the collaboration will go to Peace Sisters and Little Kids Rock within the title of the Adam Yauch Foundation, together with a sizeable product donation.
“It’s no coincidence that the primary track ever performed out loud on a Sonos was ‘No Sleep until Brooklyn’. Beastie Boys are a revered and inspirational pressure in music, with a legacy we're extremely grateful to help by way of this unique collaboration, celebrating the work and philosophies we respect enormously,” stated Brian Beck, Sonos Global Head of Music.
The announcement coincides with the beginning of a e-book tour to publicise the the group’s new memoir, the Beastie Boys Book.
The Beastie Boys Book: Live and Direct tour will embrace exhibits in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and London. Each night time will characteristic readings, conversations between surviving members Mike D and Ad-Rock, and a stay rating offered by Mix Master Mike. Fans could have the possibility to win a signed model of the speaker at every occasion.
