Spurs "Ready" To Trade Kawhi, In Talks With Lakers & Celtics

Kawhi Leonard's days a member the San Antonio Spurs appear to be numbered, as the organization is finally "ready" to move on from the 26-year old All-Star forward, according to Marc Stein  the New York Times. 

Furthermore, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Spurs are "fully engaged in trade talks with several teams on Kawhi Leonard," including the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers - Kawhi's team choice. The Lakers are reportedly "racing" to acquire Kawhi before Friday at 11:59pm ET, which is when LeBron James will have to inform the Cleveland Cavaliers whether he's opting out the final year his contract.

If the Lakers and Spurs do strike a deal centered around Leonard, ESPN reports, "L.A. could have to surrender a combination former first-round picks -- from Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart -- and future first-round picks and perhaps restricted free agent Julius Randle in a sign-and-trade agreement."

Meanwhile, the Celtics have the assets that the Spurs most covet in a potential blockbuster trade for Kawhi. That said, Wojnarowski notes that the Celtics are "extremely cautious" due to the uncertainty with Leonard's health and his desire to play for the Lakers. 

Other teams that have made fers for Leonard include the Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN.
